Rame Head is a popular picnic spot for dwellers in Plymouth, just 3 miles to the north. On their way from the Cremyll ferry, picnickers follow the Cornish Coastal Path through the country park of Mount Edgcumbe house. The house itself was badly damaged by bombs in WWII, and the present structure is a reconstruction of the Tudor original. The unaltered 18th century landscape park, however, is magnificent, with sweeping views out over Plymouth Sound. The coastal path passes through woodlands carpeted with bluebells at Penlee before reaching Rame Head itself. The Head is flanked by two small beaches, Eastern and Western Gear, which are accessible only by boat. There is an old coastguard lookout on Rame Head. The coastguard has long abandoned the lookout, which is now manned by volunteers.

The beaches of Whitsand Bay offer over three miles of stunning sand from Rame Head to Portwrinkle and are considered one of Cornwall’s hidden gems. Reached by steep paths and steps that wind down between the verdant vegetation, these beaches are never crowded. At low tide the long stretches of glistening sand provides great walking or jogging opportunities, whilst the constant swell keeps surfers happy riding some huge waves. Rock pools dotted along the beach reveal fascinating marine life, and out to sea the bay is a popular dive site, home to HMS Scylla, an ex-naval frigate sunk in 2004 to form an artificial reef.

This place has been throwing people off cliffs since 2009! Near Liskeard, Adrenalin Quarry will bring out the extreme fun junkie in you. It has the UK's maddest zip-wire, where you'll reach up to 40mph over the quarry. There is also a giant swing on which you'll defy gravity and loads of other thrilling things.
